What We Believe

Our Beliefs

At Three Rivers First UMC, our beliefs shape everything we do. As a United Methodist church, we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ as revealed in Scripture. Our commitment is to share God’s love with the world, live in fellowship, and walk in faith. Below, you’ll find the core beliefs that define who we are as a church.

We believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word, serving as our foundation for faith and practice. It reveals God’s love for humanity and provides guidance for how we should live.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)

We believe in one God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer of all life.
(Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19)

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human. He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose from the dead, and now reigns as our Savior and Lord.
(John 3:16; Philippians 2:5-11)

We believe salvation is a gift from God, available to all through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not earned by good works but given by God’s grace.
(Ephesians 2:8-9)

We believe the church is the body of Christ, called to worship, grow in faith, and share the Gospel. Through the church, we live out our mission to love God and serve others.
(Romans 12:4-5; Matthew 28:19-20)

We believe in baptism as a sign of God’s grace and initiation into the family of faith. Communion is a sacred act of remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice and a celebration of His presence among us.
(Matthew 28:19; Luke 22:19-20)

We believe in putting faith into action through love, service, and justice, following Jesus’ example to care for others and bring hope to the world.
(Micah 6:8; James 2:17)
